Executive Director Job Description

This part time position would begin at 15 to 20 hours per week, paying between $35-$40 per hour, depending on previous work experience.

The newly hired executive director would begin with at least two weeks of on the job training with our current interim Executive Director until they feel comfortable taking over and leading the club.  They would be in communication with the board president to monitor their workload and feel supported.  We are looking forward to bringing the right person on board!

Below are the â€‹responsibilities that this position would encompass.   

 

Finances

  • Regularly review finances (and work in concert with Treasurer)

  • Create annual budget for board approval

  • Find and apply for grants

  • Create fundraising campaigns

  • Save expense receipts

 

People Management-

The Board- ED serves as a liaison between the board and the club, attending board meetings and committee meetings

  • Plan (annual) board Retreat in conjunction with board

  • Create board meeting agendas as well as an Executive Director report for each board meeting.

Staff-

  • Hire and manage coaches

  • Maintain certifications records

  • Organize instructor training clinics

  • Facilitate SafeSport

Participants-

  • Maintain communication with participants through email

  • Connect participants with coaches

  • Ensure participants get information about how to register.

Volunteers-

  • Recruit, organize and thank volunteers

Donors-

  • Maintain a database of donors

  • Optimize ways for people to donate (website links, paypal, etc)

  • Recognize and thank donors

The Community at Large-

  • Manage and update the club’s website

  • Draft and distribute monthly newsletters

  • Collect and document success stories

  • Manage the club’s social media outlets

  • Communicate with the press (club events, clinics, etc.)

  • Spearhead community partnerships and connect with other nonprofits and local businesses

 

Operations-

  • Create event and clinic calendar

  • Take care of river permitting paperwork

  • Gear inventory, maintain, and purchase gear

  • Establish, renew and enforce club policies to ensure safety, compliance and alignment with the mission and operational goals of the club.

  • Create and maintain a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual for the club

  • Lead the development and expansion of our programs, ensuring they align with the club’s mission

  • Identify, apply for, and secure grants to support the club’s programs, operations, and growth initiatives

  • Advocate for the club’s mission and values

Leadership

  • Develop and communicate a clear vision for the club’s future, guiding strategic planning and decision making.

  • Communicate effectively with the board, staff, volunteers, and community members to ensure clarity, build strong relationships, and maintain organizational alignment.

  • Make informed and strategic decisions that align with the club’s mission, ensuring the growth and sustainability of our programs and operations.

  • In concert with the board, lead the club’s strategic planning efforts, setting long term goals and creating actionable plans to achieve our vision for the future.

  • Foster team building by creating a collaborative and supportive environmentIdentify potential challenges and opportunities, implementing strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities for the club’s success.
